Second Day of CNY 2005

For the neo family, the second day of CNY has always been a big event for the year. Every year, the family would gather at ASL for a makan and merry session. The bata and marine parade families would come and visit ah po and come for the annual makan session. In the previous 2 years, the gathering had been extended to the katong family. They come in on the pretext of visiting ah po.
Year 2005 was somewhat a very different CNY. It is the first new year without ah po. This year, the siblings discussed and agreed have a simple makan session at ASL. A truly neofamily reunion. The significance of the event has been shfited from visiting ah po on second day of CNY to gathering of the neo family clan annually at ASL. The focus has been shifted but the objective is still the same.
I have seen on tv when families slowly fall apart when they never meet up. The next generation will slowly distant from each other as they are not given the opportunity to mingle with each other. So the annual makan session at ASL is good for each member in the clan to know each other. It is when the new addition to the family meets the rest. And for the rest to know each other better. Every year, I see new members. This year, we have the youngest member on board. She is Pei Xuan, Ah min's 6 month old daughter. Very cute and clubby. We can see how hard Pei Yun, Ah min's 4 yr plus daugther trying to vie for attention. Beside, them, we have Estelle, Long's gf, who are joining us for the first time. Not forgetting, Irene, our soon-to-be mother. Eng gave us a surprise too when she called us all the way from Las Vegas to send us her new yr greeting. All of us sang her a belated birthday song.
It is these little gestures that warm the heart. Keep it up and three cheers for the neo family!!
